ART DIRECTOR
In this experiential role I was responsible for overseeing the design and construction of sets and props for a number of key experiences at the Manchester and Ascot sites.
The buildings and furniture were made in multiples and should be built to withstand 5 years of seasonal use, transport and storage.
The Gustavian style furniture pieces have to last a minimum of five years and as such required robust construction methods. Some had to be built in multiples of 24. I was required to fly to Beijing to oversee their construction and painting.
The graphics designed by our team needed to be applied with a production line method, so we used transfers that were then patinated and blended to look as close to Scandinavian rosemailing furniture as possible.

As someone who is very demanding regards finish, patina and detail, I was told I was the right man for the job. The items were very well received when they landed on UK soil.
These are the 'patination' images that I produced to enable me to brief the Chinese team the level of finish that was required, this was not an easy task despite having very literal references.
